Juliana served two terms as a Madison Alder, serving her constituents by writing and passing legislation to lower housing costs.
Juliana worked as a legislative liaison for WHEDA, to advocate for more affordable housing from the federal government.
Juliana most recently served as the Chief of Staff for a progressive state assembly member.

Juliana is a queer Black woman and proud Democratic Socialist from a working-class family. Her mom was a nurse, and her dad is a chef, veteran, and retired restaurant owner. After losing her mom to cancer at nine and her family home during the recession, they moved from Illinois to Beloit, where her dad opened Mama Lou’s Shrimp and BBQ Smokehouse. By 15, Juliana was co-managing the business while her dad battled heart failure. Her family later moved to Madison so he could be closer to the VA, where she graduated from Madison West High School.
Her experiences shaped her commitment to community. In 2020, she co-founded the Madison BIPOC Coalition during the Black Lives Matter movement.
“There are over 60,000 people who live in our district. To represent a community, you first have to understand it.
That means listening before speaking, learning before leading, and taking the time to understand the realities working class people across our district face every day. This is something I learned serving my constituents for four years as a Madison Alder.
That’s why our campaign has spent months in conversation with neighbors across the district, not just asking for votes, not just delivering campaign speeches, but asking questions: What’s working? What isn’t? What would make life better for you and your family?
Our campaign is rooted in community, listening to the stories, concerns, ideas, and experiences shared by the people who call our district home.
I believe this is what sets our campaign apart: making sure every community on Madison’s Northside, Eastside, and Isthmus are served.
This campaign belongs to the community because the community helped create it. This campaign is yours as much as it is mine.

HOW WE FIGHT MATTERS.
Juliana knows it’s not enough for politicians to write strongly-worded letters; they need to organize and leverage the power of the people to get things done.
Juliana is an organizer, and she plans to continue organizing in Madison and across Wisconsin, once elected, to get progressive legislation passed into law.
“We need to lower our property taxes and rent, expand BadgerCare, and raise our wages. I won’t stop organizing until we get the legislation passed, even if that means holding town halls and organizing in red districts.”
